Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is a world leader in interconnect solutions for Communications, Mobile, RF, Optics, and Commercial electronics markets. Amphenol Corporation is one of the world’s largest designers and manufacturers of electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors and interconnect systems, antennas, sensors and sensor-based products and coaxial and high-speed specialty cable. ACS has an expansive global presence in research and development, manufacturing, and sales. We design and manufacture a wide range of innovative connectors as well as cable assemblies for diverse applications including server, storage, data center, mobile, RF, networking, industrial, business equipment, and automotive.

The Power Systems Engineer is a customer-facing technical role at the intersection of system-level power architecture and connector/cable interconnect engineering. Working directly with hyperscalers, GPU/CPU partners, infrastructure partners, and Rack Power ODMs to understand current and future power delivery architectures and turn that insight into connector and cable power solutions. The role sits between the customer's engineering teams and internal product development engineering, R&D, and applications engineering, acting as the primary technical liaison who gathers technical requirements, aligns architecture with product capability, and presents solutions back to the customer.

Power Systems Engineer works under the guidance of senior team members supporting key customers and/or key programs, while building fluency in power architecture and connector/cable technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Requirements: Engage with customer engineering teams to capture requirements to develop power interconnect solutions.
  • Architecture translation: Translate system-level power architecture (e.g., 800V bus conversion, sidecar or vertical power delivery, busbar distribution) into connector and cable technology requirements to define product development.
  • Customer-facing solutioning: Serve as the front-facing technical point of contact for power architecture discussions, presenting connector/cable solution options, trade-offs, and roadmap alignment directly to customer engineering teams.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Partner with product engineering and manufacturing site to develop and deliver power interconnect solutions.
  • Specification development: Develop technical requirement documents and specification inputs that drive new product development and design-in activities.
  • Design-in support: Support qualification, validation, and design-in activities for new power interconnect solutions at customer sites.
  • Industry Standards: Track relevant industry standards and consortia (e.g., OCP, hyperscaler-specific specifications) that shape power delivery and interconnect roadmaps.
  • Voice of customer: Deliver customer and market insight back into internal roadmap and new product development.
  • Support senior team members in customer engagements.
  • Build working knowledge of the company's connector and cable product portfolio as applied to power delivery use cases.

Required Qualifications

  • At minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in power connector, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience in power connector, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of connector development and power architecture concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret system-level requirements and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable participating in customer-facing meetings alongside senior colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct exposure to data center power architecture with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with the connector and cable industry landscape and their power interconnect product lines.
  • Working knowledge of Open Compute Project (OCP) standards.
  • Experience/exposure to Creo 3D CAD software.
  • Exposure to power integrity simulation or analysis tools.
  • Experience presenting technical content directly to customer engineering and program teams.
