Position Summary:

Amphenol Communications Solutions is seeking a Global Industrial Engineer to support the planning, scheduling, coordination, and tracking of automation equipment across our global manufacturing sites.

This position will serve as a central point of coordination between manufacturing sites, engineering teams, automation resources, suppliers, and management to provide clear visibility to automation equipment schedules, equipment status, capacity requirements, deployment timing, and key project milestones.

The successful candidate will combine a strong Industrial Engineering and manufacturing background with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. A significant part of the role will involve developing and maintaining effective equipment tracking systems, improving reporting processes, and identifying opportunities to automate scheduling and reporting through advanced Microsoft Excel tools, PivotTables, VBA, and other data-management solutions.

Because the role supports multiple manufacturing locations globally, the ability to communicate clearly, follow up consistently, organize large amounts of changing information, and drive actions across different teams and time zones will be critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and maintain the global schedule and tracking of automation equipment across manufacturing sites, from initial planning and equipment build through qualification, shipment, installation, and production readiness.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized global automation equipment tracker, providing visibility to equipment location, ownership, status, schedule, capacity, milestones, risks, and required actions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing sites, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and other cross-functional teams to collect and maintain accurate equipment and project information.
  • Establish standardized processes and reporting methods for tracking automation equipment and communicating status across sites.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, PivotTables, and other management tools to clearly communicate equipment schedules, capacity, project status, and potential constraints.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, advanced formulas, PivotTables, and VBA/macros to automate repetitive reporting, consolidate data, improve accuracy, and reduce manual tracking activities.
  • Identify opportunities to further automate equipment scheduling, tracking, data collection, and management reporting.
  • Facilitate regular cross-site reviews of automation equipment schedules, open actions, timing risks, and priorities.
  • Proactively identify schedule conflicts, equipment gaps, capacity constraints, and potential delays and work with the appropriate teams to develop recovery plans.
  • Support equipment and capital planning associated with new product introductions, capacity expansions, product transfers, and manufacturing strategy.
  • Assist with analysis of equipment requirements, utilization, capacity, capital expenditure, manpower requirements, and manufacturing alternatives.
  • Support manufacturing footprint and equipment allocation decisions by providing accurate global equipment and capacity information.
  • Maintain organized documentation, procedures, shared folders/SharePoint resources, and standardized tracking processes for global automation activities.
  • Communicate project and process implications effectively to engineering, manufacturing, operations, and management teams.
  • Drive assigned activities and follow-up actions to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing efficiency, equipment utilization, reporting, and automation deployment.
  • Travel to global manufacturing locations and/or automation suppliers as required, up to 40% travel required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing, industrial engineering, automation, manufacturing equipment, or production planning.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required, including:
    • PivotTables and PivotCharts
    • Advanced formulas and data analysis
    • Data organization and consolidation
    • Charts, dashboards, and management reporting
    • Excel VBA / macro development
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, maintain, and analyze large equipment/project tracking datasets.
  • Strong project scheduling, organization, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across global teams, manufacturing sites, and different functional organizations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong inclination toward organization, consistency, and data accuracy.
  • Ability to convert complex project and equipment information into concise, logical reports for management.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of activities and drive actions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, ERP systems, Power BI, Power Query, Momentum, Smart Sheets or similar reporting/data-management tools is a plus, along with basic AI tool usage (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and automation technologies such as robotic assembly, automated assembly systems, molding, stamping, plating, laser welding, or related processes is beneficial.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively across global time zones and travel internationally as required
